Southeast Asian Trip For Free?

I won a trip to Malaysia through an official Tourism Board in Canada. I would love to go there as the itinerary is fantastic, so many things to see and experience…but I am actually really nervous and worried. Malaysia has an official “high caution” travel warning on it…it always does and so do most Asian travel destinations. I am blonde, white, and an attractive female as part of a travelling group going there. I’m unsure as there has been kidnappings, criminal attacks and such there. Additionally, the flights are on Air China..one of them is 14 hours long. I researched some on Air China and it doesn’t seem to be the best airline out there and the safety rating is not very good. I am a person that thinks very positively and expects the best..but there is obvious concerns here so I am not sure if I should pass up this once in a life time opportunity. Any advice, I’d appreciate.
Take care and enjoy your travels!

Mount Kinabalu And Southeast Asia Suggestions?

My family is planning a trip to Southeast Asia about a year from now. The plan is to go to Japan in addition to either China or Malaysia. I’m interested in climbing Mount Kinabalu and was wondering if anyone could tell me how difficult this climb will be and give any tips on what to do while there/in preporation.
I was also interested in learning more about the Malaysian rainforest and what you’d suggest to do there — does anyone know of a good guide or organization to go with if I wanted to stay in the rainforest for a week or so?
Lastly, could anyone give suggestion for China or Japan — I know the most obvious things: the Great Wall/Forbidden City/Warriors/Tokyo/etc. but I’m interested in places a little less touristy.
Thanks so much!

Hi there,
Planning a trip to and around southeast asia this summer. I’m on a backpackers budget and was wondering if anyone knows generally what the cheapest airport to fly into would be. I am willing to land in any of the following countries as I hope to visit them all.
China (in or around hong kong)
China (in or around Beijing)
China (in or around Shanghai)
Thailand (in or around Bangkok)
Indonesia ((in or around Bali)
Malaysia (in or around Kuala Lampur)
Much appreciated.

Tour Company In Southeast Asia?

I am thinking of taking a short-ish trip to southeast asia (perhaps nepal or burma) with some friends. I have traveled extensively, but never with a tour company. I have always been hesitant to travel with an organized tour, as they have generally seemed to be so focused on the big sights, and so uninterested in cultural immersion. On the other hand, my friends and I have only limited experience in southeast asia, and we thought this might be a nice introduction to some of the areas off the beaten track. Does anyone have any good tour groups to recommend?
In particular, we would like to company that is focused on young people (we are all in our early to mid 20s), and also adventuresome, small-ish, no luxury required…and no hyper-scheduled so we can also go off a bit alone sometimes.
Thanks for your help! Any recommendations are much appreciated. Also, any ideas on spots to visit off the beaten track (we are already familiar with the major tourist points in India and china)?

Looking To Do A China/japan / Southeast Asia Trip. Is It Worth Breaking That Up & What’s The (approx.) Cost?

i suspect I could easily spend at least a month between China & Japan, so perhaps it may be wise to split this trip up. I’d love to do these also:
Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Bali.
Could I do that (without being TOO rushed) in about 2 months?
