		<description>I can't tell you with absolute certanty, but since no one else is answering I'll throw my 2 cents in.
I highly doubt there is direct train link between Lhasa and Urumqi. You would have to go via Qinghai around up to Sichuan and then into Xinjiang in a big U that would easily take 3 or 4 days on trains.  There is to my knowledge only the one train line recently built that connects Tibet to the rest of China.  
Also, land crossings are always tricky but can be done through Nepal, but I'd call the Chinese and Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Embassies to see if the borders are open. I'd be fairly certain that the China-Tajikistan border is closed due to the attacks during the Olympics and China's hate for them.  Kyrgyzstan could be open but you'd probably have to take a bus, not many train links through those areas.
